Why Nivi Exists

Nivi is a secure digital space and legacy planning app. We built it because people deserve a place to store their important information — assets, documents, and memories — where only they hold the key. Not the cloud provider. Not us. You.

A note from the founder

I started Nivi after realising how easily a lifetime of savings can simply vanish. In India alone, tens of thousands of crores sit unclaimed — bank accounts, insurance, investments — not because the money wasn't there, but because families never knew it existed.

I wanted to build the thing I wished my own family had: one private, encrypted place that holds everything that matters, that only you can open while you're here, and that quietly reaches the people you love if you're ever not. No jargon, no middlemen, no one reading your data — not even us.

It's early, and I'm building it in the open. If it helps even one family avoid that loss, it's worth it.

What We Believe

Zero-knowledge encryption means we never see your content. It is encrypted on your device before it reaches our servers, and we don't store the keys needed to read it in the course of running the Service. The one exception is inheritance: your key is kept safely escrowed — encrypted with bank-grade key management — and is only ever unlocked through a strict, audited process, after a verified death certificate, so your loved ones receive what you left them. That is by design.

Legacy belongs to you. You decide who receives what, when, and how. When the time comes, access is released only after a loved one submits a death certificate that our team verifies — no one can access your data before then. Loved ones are verified before access, and no one gets in before it is appropriate.

How We're Different

  • Zero-knowledge by design — We architected Nivi so that user data is encrypted on the device before it reaches our servers. We cannot read it. This is not a feature we added — it is the foundation of our architecture.
  • Legacy planning built in — Nivi is not just encrypted storage. It includes loved one management, check-in monitoring, daily reminders, certificate-verified handover, and automated release. No other space app combines all of these.
  • No single point of failure — Your space is encrypted on your device and its key is safely escrowed with bank-grade key management. Even if you lose your phone, your legacy can still be recovered and handed over.
  • Free to start — Core features are free. Premium and Enterprise plans are available for users who need higher storage and item limits.

Our Technology

Nivi uses XChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption with Argon2id key derivation from your password. Your vault key is escrowed with envelope encryption backed by a hardware security module (AWS KMS), and is only ever unlocked during the verified legacy-release process. All transport is secured with TLS 1.3. The architecture is designed so that, in normal operation, even a complete server breach would not expose your data in readable form.
